MEDITATIVE RUNNING

  • Sometimes you need to slow down in order to speed up. Take it easy, enjoy the run.

I never thought I’d be “a runner.” I started with a simple routine back in 2014 of using an app called Couch 2 5k, it helped me build up strength and establish good habits. After I successfully ran my first 5k, I was kind of hooked. I wanted to keep going. So I began using Nike Run Club and their guided runs. Some of their runs were meditative in nature and so I started pairing playlists to the easier recovery runs.

Running became my meditation, my healthy habit, my “me time.” And two half-marathons under my belt, I guess I can consider myself “a runner.”

But when the pandemic hit, and worse - summer in Austin, I started to slow on the thing that once brought me so much joy. Running became sort of a painful memory to me. Something I no longer did.

After a few years of really struggling to gain traction again I remembered something from meditation - you always need to begin again. Just keep starting over.

And so I was determined to start again. Taking it easy on myself and starting with easy recovery runs.

This playlist is my “easy” run playlist. Tempo-less and beat-less, it just allows you to focus in on nothing but the run. Let everything else fade away. Just be.

    Enjoy the run, friends
